Integrated Service Center

Before You Start

Please watch for an email containing information about your benefit package. You must enroll by your deadline or you will be defaulted into certain elections. Contact the ISC with any questions.

Your benefits are managed both by the UW and by Washington state agencies. The UW administers all the health plans, and some retirement plans, e.g., UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) and the UW Voluntary Investment Program (VIP).

As you review your enrollment materials, here are a few key terms to help you:

HCA The Washington State Health Care Authority governs the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) health and other insurance plans (life, long-term disability) and other insurance plans, except retirement plans. UW health plans and other insurance plans are under HCA governance. UW governs the Graduate Student Health Insurance plan (GAIP), as authorized by the state legislature.

PEBB The Public Employees Benefits Board is appointed by the governor and determines benefit plan policy, makes plan recommendations, approves plan designs, and generally determines what plans are offered to state employees.

DRS The Washington State Department of Retirement Systems administers the state retirement plans, such as PERS, TRS, LEOFF, and the Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP).

ISC The Integrated Service Center is your source for Workday, HR, benefits, and payroll transactional support. The ISC includes this comprehensive self-service website, a drop-in center in the UW Tower, and phone and email support.

UWHR University of Washington Human Resources comprises practice areas that create and sustain welcoming and productive workplace practices and provide employees with a wide range of benefits, career development opportunities, and pathways to engage in the UW community.

The University of Washington administers eligibility for all the health plans and retirement plans.

The UW Board of Regents govern the UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) and the UW Voluntary Investment Program (VIP).
