Workday Computing and Browser Requirements

Supported Web Browsers

You can access Workday using the latest versions of the following web browsers.

* When accessing Workday from a mobile device, please note the following:

  • A “Yes” in the Supported on Mobile Devices? column above indicates the web browser can be used on a mobile device to access Workday. However, the ISC does not recommend accessing or transacting in Workday from a mobile web browser, as the end user experience is not optimal.
  • The Workday mobile app is not currently supported at the UW.

** Running Edge in “IE Mode” is not supported. Edge Legacy will be supported until the Workday 2020 R2 release.

Memory Requirements

For Workday to run efficiently, the following minimum memory requirements are recommended for desktops. If you are running other software applications while accessing Workday, more memory than the below is required.

Administrative users accessing high data volumes in reports or tasks. 2GB
Administrative users frequently running staffing and other business processes. 1GB
Casual users, such as employees, maintaining their time off or personal data. 512MB

Display Settings

For all users to optimally view Workday, please use a 1024 x 768 display setting on your device.

Other Software

Some Workday report features require the following third-party applications.

Workday Feature Required Application
To view and print PDF files Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.5 or later
To view the .xlsx files generated by Excel functionality (selecting
the Export to Excel option or clicking the Excel chart icon)
Use the latest version of Microsoft Excel.

Appendix

Internet Explorer (IE) 11 – Special Considerations

  • Only the latest version of IE 11 is supported; prior versions of IE are not supported.
  • IE 11 is not supported when running in Compatibility Mode, Enterprise Mode or Embedded Mode.
  • IE 11 users must set Workday as a Trusted Site for step-up authentication to work. Follow this procedure to do so:
    1. Click the “gear” icon in the upper right corner toolbar and select Internet Options
    2. In the window that opens, click the Security tab.

    3. Click the green “check mark” icon labeled Trusted sites.
    4. Click the Sites button.
    5. In the window that opens, type https://wd5.myworkday.com and click Add.
    6. Click Close, and click OK to close the Internet Options window.
