Deadline Deep Dives: Holidays (Yellow Square)
The University of Washington schedules 11 holidays a year; you can find the UW Holiday Calendar on UWHR’s website. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, that holiday is observed on the Friday before. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, that holiday is observed on the Monday following. These appear as yellow squares on the calendar.
The Payroll and Workday Approval Deadline Calendar also includes bank holidays – these appear as yellow squares with red numbers. An example of a bank holiday that is not also a UW holiday would be Columbus Day (usually in mid-October).
