Internet Explorer (IE) – Special Considerations

  • Support in Workday for Internet Explorer 7.x through 10.x ended on 9/9/2017.
If you want to continue to access Workday with one of these older versions of Internet Explorer, please be sure you have access to Internet Explorer 11 and/or one of the supported web browsers listed above. Note that IE 11 is Microsoft’s last version of Internet Explorer. Microsoft will continue to provide security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support for it on computers running Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. To obtain IE 11, see the Microsoft Download Center at
  • Internet Explorer 11 users must set Workday as a Trusted Site for step-up authentication to work.
For certain aspects of Workday to function correctly in IE11, including step-up authentication and viewing your payslip, Workday must be added as a Trusted Site. Follow this procedure to do so:
    1. Click the “gear” icon in the upper right corner toolbar and select Internet Options
    2. In the window that opens, click the Security tab.

    3. Click the green “check mark” icon labeled Trusted sites.
    4. Click the Sites button.
    5. In the window that opens, type and click Add.
    6. Click Close, and click OK to close the Internet Options window.

Safari – Special Considerations

The version of Safari included on iOS devices, such as iPhones and iPads, does not currently support step-up authentication in Workday. Workers who wish to access sensitive data in Workday – including payroll and some personal information such as payslips, payment elections, Social Security Number, tax documents and home address – will need to do so from a different browser on their iOS device.
