Reminder: Transferring Employees From Staff to Non-Staff Positions

As a reminder, when an employee changes jobs from a Staff position to either an Academic or Student position/job, units should use the Change Job process to complete the transaction in Workday. The process should be initiated by the HCM Initiate 2 in the receiving unit. When the HCM Initiate 2 selects the appropriate Job Profile (one that is not in a Staff Job Family), the transaction will not be required to route through UWHIRES, which is only used in Hire, Change Job or Add Job for Staff.

When transferring employees from a Staff to Non-Staff position, please do NOT terminate the employee and begin the rehire process; this actually creates several unintended, and undesired, consequences.
