Twice a year, in September and March, Workday – UW’s new, integrated, cloud-based human resource and payroll operations system – releases major feature upgrades designed to increase functionality and enhance the user experience.
Though it may feel like we’re just getting used to Workday (which replaced the University’s 35-year-old, legacy payroll system on June 27), a few exciting changes are in the works with this round of planned updates, scheduled for release on September 9.
Confirm Your Web Browser is Workday-Supported:
In order for Workday to provide the usability and speed that users require for optimal performance, early versions of Internet Explorer (including versions 7, 8, 9 and 10) will no longer be supported by Workday after the September 8 release. If you use an early version of Explorer, you will need to either update to Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) or switch to one of the Workday-supported browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari. For more information, see our FAQ.
What Else to Expect:
In addition to several other improvements, some of the bigger updates you will likely see when you log in to Workday on the morning of September 11 include:
- New Worker Profile Page: One of the most visible updates will be a brand new look for the Worker Profile page!
- New My Team Dashboard: For managers, the My Team worklet will be replaced with a more robust My Team dashboard, providing increased visibility to team activity and more convenient access to related dashboards like Compensation and Performance.
- Simplified Error Messaging: You will still receive error messages notifying you of problems, but Workday will now highlight the fields with errors that require revision.
Keep an eye on this page for more information about the new Workday releases as we get closer to September 9.
