ISC and UW-IT Coming Together (Again)

The following communication was sent by Andreas Bohman, Vice President for UW Information Technology and CIO, and Brian McCartan, Vice President for UW Finance, on September 30, 2022.

We’re writing to share news about a realignment of reporting lines that will not result in any staffing reductions and will allow for more effective teamwork going forward.

As you know, we have been focusing on what the UWFT post go-live support and operating model should look like. After working closely with program sponsors, HR business owners, ISC leadership, and other stakeholders, we are sharing our plan for strategic alignment which we believe will position the University to operate Workday as effectively and efficiently as possible as we approach the go-live of Workday Finance. This includes:

  • ISC Benefits operations being united with the rest of UW Benefits so that policy, process, and expertise is consolidated within UW Human Resources.
  • The rest of the ISC changing reporting structures so that the full Workday system is consolidated under UW-IT. Bringing the ISC into UW-IT is a natural fit with the continual maturing of the University’s Workday environment. All the right support and technical elements are in place within UW-IT for even tighter collaboration with you toward the success of UWFT and the broader Workday environment. ISC teams will remain structured as they are today.

We do not have a specific date for the transitions yet, but we expect them to take place in the next 90–180 days. We will work with ISC leadership to refine this date over the next several weeks and will keep you informed of progress. We are committed to providing the necessary support and resources to make sure this change goes as smoothly as possible. We look forward to working with Nancy and the ISC leadership team to ensure success for this transition.
